Wheatus Release Animated Music Video For ‘Christmas Dirtbag’

Holiday-Themed Version of ‘00s Classic “Teenage Dirtbag”

Kicks Off New EP Just a Dirtbag Christmas, Available Now

Fans Can Submit Clips for a Special Video to Be Released This Season

Definitively proving that it’s always better to give than to receive at Christmas time, Wheatus are gifting fans a hilarious new animated music video for “Christmas Dirtbag.” It’s the lead track off their new holiday EP Just a Dirtbag Christmas, now available from Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment.

Watch the new video HERE. The five-track EP is now available on all DSPs. Listen HERE.

The “Christmas Dirtbag” video finds Buddy the Wheatus Dog, who’s featured on the Just a Dirtbag Christmas cover, struggling for attention during the merriest time of the year. Naturally, there’s a happy, rockin’ ending for our canine companion before the last chorus hits. While the real Buddy has sadly passed away, the video serves as a funny, moving tribute to his can-do spirit. The animated video was directed by Jaime Restrepo of production studio Dreambear; his credits include works for Eminem, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, Amazon Music and Adult Swim.

Fans can also participate in a special Wheatus video for the holiday season using CapCut. Whether you’ve made Santa’s naughty or nice list, now’s the time to sit under the tree, snack on some gingerbread houses and become the Christmas Dirtbag you were meant to be. Submit your video entries HERE and you might see yourself in Wheatus’ newest video before the calendar turns to December 25!

Just a Dirtbag Christmas features three Yuletide originals sandwiched between “Christmas Dirtbag” – a rewrite of their 2000 classic “Teenage Dirtbag” – and a new string quartet version of that unforgettable track. The band – founder/lead singer/guitarist Brendan B. Brown, bassist Matthew Milligan, keyboardist Brandon Ticer, drummer KC Marotta and backing vocalists Joey Slater and Gabrielle Sterbenz – have been performing across the U.K. and Europe this fall, due back in their home state of New York for a pair of shows on Thanksgiving weekend.
